Magyar Közút Nonprofit Zrt., the state-owned road management company, has awarded a €2.7 million supply contract to SIEX Ipari, Kereskedelmi és Szolgáltató Kft. for the delivery of new multifunctional road-maintenance and bicycle path operation vehicles. The procurement aims to modernize the country’s infrastructure maintenance fleet and improve operational efficiency across Hungary’s national and regional road network.
Under the contract, SIEX Kft. will deliver eight multifunctional articulated communal vehicles with a gross weight of at least seven tonnes. Each vehicle will be equipped with interchangeable adapters — including snow ploughs, salt spreaders, slope mowers, and tipper platforms - allowing year-round functionality for both winter maintenance and summer vegetation management on roadways and bicycle paths.
The vehicles will be deployed across multiple engineering units in Hungary, with technical training and handover scheduled at Szigetszentmiklós Engineering Centre. The project is expected to be completed within 24 months, including assembly, commissioning, and operator training for more than 20 personnel.
The open tender, published under OJ S 190/2025, received two bids, with STP Technic Kft. also participating. SIEX Kft. was selected as the winning bidder based on a best-value-for-money evaluation model, where price accounted for 80 points and quality (warranty period) for 20 points.
The contract, officially titled “Bicycle Path Operation Tools,” was signed on September 25, 2025, following award confirmation on August 27, 2025. The total contract value amounts to €2,726,920, excluding VAT, with approximately 1% subcontracting (€51,811) planned for specific technical components.
Although not classified as a green procurement, the initiative aligns with Hungary’s broader goals of improving road safety and ensuring efficient public infrastructure management. The new machinery is expected to reduce maintenance downtime and enhance responsiveness during severe weather, benefiting both motorists and cyclists.
The buyer, Magyar Közút Nonprofit Zrt., manages over 32,000 km of public roads nationwide and continues to invest in fleet modernization. The procurement service provider, MÁV Szolgáltató Központ Zrt., supported the tender process to ensure compliance with the national Public Procurement Act and EU Directive 2014/24/EU.
Based in Torony, Vas County, SIEX Industrial, Commercial and Service Ltd. is a small Hungarian enterprise specializing in municipal and industrial vehicle systems. The company has developed a strong domestic reputation for reliable equipment solutions supporting local infrastructure and maintenance projects.
With this award, SIEX Kft. strengthens its presence in Hungary’s public sector vehicle supply market, while Magyar Közút advances its strategic goal of equipping all regional units with modern, adaptable maintenance technology by 2026. The project reinforces the government’s commitment to enhancing road safety, environmental performance, and cycling infrastructure nationwide.
