Hungary's BudaΓΆrs, October 2025:EXTOR Energy Project Management and Design Ltd. was awarded a €17.09 million contract for the Bakonyi Hybrid Power Plant Energy Storage Procurement Project, marking a major advancement in Hungary's goals for renewable energy and grid stability. MVM Balance Private Limited Liability Company, one of the top public organisations in the nation in charge of overseeing projects involving energy, submitted the contract, which was finalised on September 30, 2025.Enhancing the Energy Infrastructure in HungaryA high-capacity battery-powered Energy Storage Unit (ESU) will be designed, delivered, installed, and maintained at the Bakony Gas Turbine Power Plant in Ajka, VeszprΓ©m County, as part of the project, which is funded by the European Recovery and Resilience Facility (2021–2027).The energy storage system, which has a minimum 57,500 kVA rating and a capacity of 57,000 kWh, is intended to increase the plant's adaptability so that it can deliver vital frequency and power balancing services (aFRR and mFRR). The initiative will greatly aid Hungary's shift to cleaner, more robust power systems, with an operational efficiency of at least 87% for each charge-discharge cycle.Duration and Scope of the ContractA total of 132 months (11 years) are covered by the awarded contract, which has an estimated total value of HUF 14.4 billion (€17.09 million). This includes a 15.5-month installation period, followed by an 11-year warranty and preventive maintenance phase.In addition to integrating the storage unit with the plant's current control and remote monitoring systems, EXTOR Energy is responsible for the storage unit's full engineering, installation, commissioning, and testing. Additionally, the business will guarantee continuous preventive maintenance and training throughout the warranty period and carry out a 720-hour trial run.Participants in Competitive ProcurementSix qualified bidders participated in the open EU public procurement process, which was carried out in accordance with Directive 2014/25/EU. Among the rival companies were: Trading, Manufacturing, and Service CRESCOM Ltd.Wasion Energy Technology Corporation Ltd. and Inflexio Hungary Management Consulting (China) GNX Engineering Ltd. The Vabeko Solar PV Main Contractor Ltd. and EB Hungary Invest Kft. System Integration and Telecommunications, Ltd. In the end, EXTOR Energy won the prize for having the best price-quality ratio; 90% of the award went to cost, with the remaining 10% going to performance factors including availability and fault recovery time.Concerning the Winning CompanyEXTOR Energy Project Management and Design Ltd. is a small Hungarian company with its headquarters in BudaΓΆrs that specialises in system integration, renewable power solutions, and energy infrastructure engineering. Budapest, Hungary - 3 October 2025: Magyar KΓΆzΓΊt Nonprofit Zrt., the state-owned road management company, has awarded a €2.7 million supply contract to SIEX Ipari, Kereskedelmi Γ©s SzolgΓ‘ltatΓ³ Kft. for the delivery of new multifunctional road-maintenance and bicycle path operation vehicles. The procurement aims to modernise the country’s infrastructure maintenance fleet and improve operational efficiency across Hungary’s national and regional road network.Modern Vehicles to Support Year-Round Infrastructure UpkeepUnder the contract, SIEX Kft. will deliver eight multifunctional articulated communal vehicles with a gross weight of at least seven tonnes. Each vehicle will be equipped with interchangeable adapters - including snow ploughs, salt spreaders, slope mowers, and tipper platforms - allowing year-round functionality for both winter maintenance and summer vegetation management on roadways and bicycle paths.The vehicles will be deployed across multiple engineering units in Hungary, with technical training and handover scheduled at SzigetszentmiklΓ³s Engineering Centre. The project is expected to be completed within 24 months, including assembly, commissioning, and operator training for more than 20 personnel.Procurement Overview and EvaluationThe open tender, published under OJ S 190/2025, received two bids, with STP Technic Kft. also participating. SIEX Kft. was selected as the winning bidder based on a best-value-for-money evaluation model, where price accounted for 80 points and quality (warranty period) for 20 points.The contract, officially titled β€œBicycle Path Operation Tools”, was signed on September 25, 2025, following award confirmation on August 27, 2025.
